The phone call may have just been some crossed lines. Did the conversation sound reasonable? Did it refer to you?
It's happened to me from time to time when the telephone company had some sort of mixup.
And unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work to say "Hey, I can hear everything you're saying" so I have to hang up and try again. That almost always works.
