I recently had a "special examination" with a social security disability appointed psychiatrist. Im trying to get SS disability...fat chance of that. Main reason Im applying for it is my family is pressuring me to get it. So this is like the umpteenth psychiatrist Ive seen in almost five years now. I forget how many psychiatrists Ive seen now. I no longer even take psychiatrists seriously anymore I think psychiatry is a f*cking big joke now.
Anyway, when I went to this examination the first thing this dickhead psychiatrist says to me is "it seems that everytime you take a medication, you find some side effect to stop taking the medication." I was flabbergasted and totally caught off guard. I was incensed immediately, even though I just acted laid back. I said "huh?" and told him "that was pure utter bullshit." I have a long history of taking antidepressants in high dosages for extended periods of time and augmenting them with about everything you can augment with except lamictal. Ive also been thru the rTMS clinical trials, which was specifically set up for severe refractory depression.
The only things I have not done is MAOIs and ECT.
When I left this guys office, I went home and called the SS disability examiner in charge of my "case." I chewed her out on the phone and told her I didnt appreciate driving all the way over to this other town early in the morning only to get castigated by this PRICK psychiatrist and told that I dont stick to my medications. No psychiatrist has EVER told me this before...ever.
I told this SS disability examiner that this accusation was slanderous and libellious and completely untrue. I then mailed her a letter which contained all of the drugs Ive taken, at what dosages, for what lengths of time, what augmenting drugs Id used and for how long. It came out to be like twenty drugs Ive taken.
My parents agree with me that this was a slanderous and libellious accusation by this psychiatrist. I was so angry I could chew nails.
All of this is just more BULLSHIT Ive had to put up with from psychiatry. Lies, bullshit...why does society allow psychiatry to exist as it does?
Finally, today I called the NC Medical Board for advise on how to get my medical records from this asshole doctor (he looked about 60 and was all wrinkled and shriveled up looking and looked like an oldtime southern redneck piece of shit alcholic). And low and behold I was told that the NC medical board has "different standards" for "medical" records and for "psychiatric" records. Basically the board wont come down as hard on psychiatrists who refuse patient's requests for copies of their records because its a "psychiatric" record and not a "medical" record. I then went onto tell this uneducated ignoramous person I was talking to that there is no difference between medical records and psychiatric records because major psychiatric illnesses are brain based illnesses and therefore medical problems. She acted like she didnt know what I was even talking about.
I wonder if its just me...or if a lot of my problems have to do with the fact I live in a REDNECK super duper conservative state where its not consumer oriented at all and doctors have a good lobby and the laws are slanted in their favor. Seriously, in North Carolina if you have medical, much less psychiatric problems, you are SOL when it comes to things like "patients rights" and other unknown concepts of freedom and individual rights in this super conservative state.
NOTE: If you have severe mental illness, DO NOT move to the Southeastern United States! I used to like North Carolina sorta OK up til I developed major depression in 97. I even used to vote republican. Now I cant stand it here. This is the shittiest place in the country to have severe mental illness. Its backwards, you have no support here, suing doctors here is about impossible because the malpractice laws are so conservative in this super conservative state. You cant get your medical records in this state!! Thats right...doctors in North Carolina do not have to give you copies of your own medical records!
Fuck North Carolina and fuck all the psychiatrists who practice here. If I ever recover from this fucking illness I am OUTTA the SOUTH and NEVER COMING BACK!!!!!
