TAKING CANDY
FROM STRANGERS

Turncoats,
everyone of them--
here, they say--
take this candy, it
will make you well...
But it's ever
so sweet
& we wants it--
more and more,
more and more,
yet our river
runs dry-- we,
left stranded
inside of our lack
cry, or sing,
perhaps--

"please let it rain!
carry us away
from this rocky
travail! Aye Aye!!
100 Quarks for
Muster A.!"

but tis to no avail
and they tells us--

"Naw wun gets naw mair
candy till yis time is dew..."

But why doth they
sweeten it so?
oh so sweet---
sticky,
& ooh it traps

You get stuck
inside it,
and you're
licking your
fingers and
suckling your
thumb and
saying

"Oh Whats to be done
with these strangers of ours?"
