KK-
How much Depakote are you taking? You know, I am really, really worried about that stuff. It's powerful medication and it's "mood-stabalizng" properties wipe out all emotions. I think - and again, this is my amateur, unprofessional opinion-that Depakote should be used initially on patients who are displaying violent, self-destructive emotions. Once they are on a more even keel, the Depakote should be tapered and replaced by other medications that still allow the patient to live his life.Seroquel is an anti-psychotic. My new psychiatrist asked me if I had hallucinations, heard voices (like alien contact), or thought I was paranoid. None of this applies to me, but he did keep me on the Seroquel which was prescribed by my first pyschiatrist and then my GP. And he did up the dosage from 100 mg PRN to 300 or 400 mg daily, depending on my anxiety level. The only reason I can think of for him doing so is because I've had success with Seroquel in the past when several types of SSRIs failed. I'll ask him the next time I see him. I also would like to know if my short-term memory loss is ever going to improve, something I suspect might have been caused by the Depakote.
You know, I said I wasn't paranoid, but sometimes I have the sneaking suspicion that we don't know enough about drugs like Depakote and the effects of its long-term usage. Look what happened with Phen-Fen.
Good luck to you- Gracie
P.S. Aren't Corgis all those little yappie dogs owned by the Queen Mother?
