In 1897, one year before his death, Carrol wrote, "in answer to your question, 'What did you mean the Snark was?', will you tell your friend that I meant that the Snark was a Boojum. I trust that she and you will now feel quite satisfied and happy. To the best of my recollection, I had no other meaning in my mind when I wrote it; but people have since tried to find the meanings in it. The one I like best (which I think is partly my own) is that may taken as an allegory for the pursuit of happiness."

I am so honored that you took the time to find all this about the snark...and to look ahead to sar's post, I think Lewis often wrote ambivilant prose and poetry...
Tonight is a blue moon, you know, 'once in a blue moon' meaning two full moons in one month, so if you all have been particularly mercurical, blame the blue moon. Oh, and i just found out the reason it is called blue is that in the 1940's the farmers almanic showing the stages of the moon would color this second moon blue.
night all, I am scaring away the trick or treaters. The last time i handed anything out it was pennies...the little kids thought it was great (got to put them in a flat pan, makes them harder for little hands to grab) the older kids, said, 'stupid, pennies, who wants pennies' and i spent less...twenty dollars of pennies is a lot of pennies...
now I just turn out the lights and don't answer the door.
a halloween grouch mouch
