Whose broad stripes and bright stars....

Posted by paxvox on October 27, 2001, at 16:55:22

Ok, Pax here. I will take this opportunity to to say thanks to my neighbor, hello to a stranger, wave to a passer by, smile at a child.

This time....

Do you feel a little more of spirit? Warmth of heart?
I know this may sound crazy (geeezzee, why would that seem unusual on PSB?) but I have found myself actually feeling a bit better about myself lately.

Is it because as an individual, I am responding to a collective reposturing of position in America? Have we become so fat that it takes such a jolt to realize where we live, and the price that has been paid to get us here? How many of you have teenagers who haven't a clue about Vietnam? Do you remember the nuc drills at school? Did you not eat the "first snow" of winter becasue it might have fallout in it?

Rue the day when America rolls over and plays dead. "Ye have awaken the giant, and me thinks ye should have neh done so".

Who's with me?
(OK, do I need a visual here: Animal House, Bluto Blutarski (John Belushi), the grades are in, the Delta house about to be closed by Dean Wormer...the ultimate rallying call!)

"Oh thus be it e'er when free men shall stand
Between their lov'd homes and war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that has made and presrv'd us a nation
And conquer we must when our casue is just
and this be our motto: 'In God is out trust'.
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."
