Wow.... we really are close in age. I'm about a month older than you(depending on what day in august.) I could be your mom! J/K
Actually, me leaving IBM and working as a cocktail waitress INCREASED my income. I think I came across wrong. So it was perfect. Less stress, and more money. I can't ask for anything more fit for me as far as work is concerned.. at least for the time being.
You've talked about seeing Cali... what's the farthest west you've seen?
You asked what kind of volunteer work I want to do. Good question, and maybe you can help me find an answer!! Probably counseling of somesort or something to do with that. What I would absolutely love to do is become a doctor.... but I'm getting too old to have that as my dream. I would like to help people.... either with knowledge, money, or both. I have about 3 years to think about it. Any thoughts?

I understand about not wanting to leave your "kids"... that's tough. But maybe you have a real close family member or friend that could take care of them for you? It sounds like something you really want to do. I have soooo much respect for people who join the peace corp. Wonderful... wonderful... and it leaves you seeing life in a whole new light!! But... as you said,. money gets in the way. The root of all evil, and the PC doesn't exactly pay you enough to cover your bills unfortunately.
I'm trying to remember the questions you asked me. Oh, my degrees are in Accounting(first degree... the only thing my dad would pay for), psychology, and nutrition. I worked in each field slightly for a small amount of time. I could never figure out what I want to do... and knowing me, I never will. I went to Penn State,.. funnest years of my life!
I'm not married either. Was asked a few months ago by my boyfriend but I turned him down. Various reasons. I'm not up to putting into what needs to put into a relationship like that. I don't know if you have read previous posts of mine... or what I have been going thru, so I won't bore you. I have several medical reasons that are getting in the way of getting on with my life.
No pets either. Don't worry about your questions being scatter brained... look at my answers! :-)
So do you have any education behind you? How long until you can't stand the job any more and just say to heck with it? I've learned one thing.... believe it or not.... work should be the least of our worries, there are so many things more important.... but then again....MONEY. Ugh.
