I have had bipolar disorder since my teens (I'm 50). I have been seeing the same psychiatrist for 15 years. Recently he suggested that I may have social anxiety. (The time lag was because I talk very little and, at his request, now supply him with a daily journal.) Well, to cut this short, I do have generalized social anxiety (since very early childhood) concomitant with bipolar disorder. The combination has been devastating. There's rarely been a moment when I've been well. I'd be on the streets if it weren't for a supportive husband. Presently I'm trying to succeed in a graduate program in Entomology. (This semester is absolutely the pits.) Presently I'm taking seroquel, wellbutrin, celexa and thyroid (BP) and klonopin (SA). My question: is there any published information on these two disorders (significantly debilitating) occurring concurrently? Does anyone "out there" struggle with both BP and generalized SA?
