Hi all,
Well this morning I woke up (day 6 withdrawals from Effexor) and had a very hard time breathing, my head was pounding so badly I thought it was going to burst, plus the dizziness, pain, etc.
I told my husband that I couldn't take it anymore so he took me to the Urgent Care facilty. After 3 1/2 hours, (I was the 4th patient to be seen this morning)
I was told I have an inner ear infection and that no way could it be the Effexor.
The doctor told me that Effexor is a very common drug and that he would know if the symptoms I was having were related. He gave me a presciption for Antivert (for the inner ear infection). HA
I shared with him the information I found out yesterday on this thread and he pretty much poo pooed it. I asked how he explained the severe joint pain, headaches, shortness of breath, and jumpled speech. He said that I had a virus too. Basically meaning the flu. I told him it was pretty coincindental in the timing, not to mention I had the dizzineess throughout the weaning process, just not as severe or incapacitating. Funny he also ran an EKG, extensive blood work, blood pressure test (more elaborate than normal) and urine. Yes.....he was thorough, just not willing to hear anything I had to say.
My feelings are that of.....these doctors prescribe a medication, don't give us all of the information needed to make an informed decision to take or not to take and then when you come back feeling like you would prefer death at the moment they send you out the door to fend for yourself. BUMMER!
P.S. He also said if it were the Effexor that the symptoms would be over in a couple of days and would never last 7 weeks or more.
Yes..... I am miserable.
