Therapy termination experiences

Posted by JennyR on March 10, 2001, at 20:07:39

I've been in therapy for 3 yrs. now. It's helped me in a lot of ways. I asked a couple of times along the way how I would know when I'm done. His answer was "you'll just know." I don't want to linger longer than necessary or end prematurely. I'm wondering if anyone would like to talk about a termination of therapy that they went through - how they knew it was the right time, or it turned out to have not been the right time. I'm talking about "talk" therapy with an MSW. My meds are from a pdoc where there is minimal relationship. The relationship with the therapist, however, has always been a great rapport. Thanks.
