I think he is what they call a "depth" psychologist - lots of Jungian influences but with additional influences via Rogers, Kuhut and Winnicott. I suspect attachment theory was not discussed when he was licensed but certainly he ascribes to this way of thinking. And he throws in elements of self-psychology and eastern reflections. He is not a behaviorist but I do see when he begins reality testing. I get stubborn and just won't play that game with him.
