My therapist doesn't. But if he did, I'd probably be reluctant to share it.

Did you watch the TV show "The Wonder Years"? One day I was watching some reruns, laughing at Kevin's older brother Wayne, and asked "Can Wayne possibly be that bad?" I suddenly realized the true genius of the show. Wayne might not have been that bad. The family was seen through Kevin's eyes. As Kevin got older, the family members got more two dimensional and layered, but did they change or did Kevin get older and see them differently?

Kevin was telling his truth, but it wasn't necessarily *the* truth. It was totally honest to his experience, so in that respect it was more truthful than home movies would be.

I figure my therapy is the same. I pride myself on being reasonably perceptive. But I see my therapist through my eyes, no way around that. An impartial observer might see something totally different than what I describe on Babble. My therapist almost certainly would.

I want to be able to be totally truthful here on Babble, in that I want to be able to tell *my* truth. But it wouldn't be fair to associate my therapist's name with my brutal honesty about the therapy I experience. It wouldn't be fair to him or to his other clients, should any happen across Babble. Because they'd have their own truth about him, based on their own experience of him.

Plus of course I want to protect his privacy. And mine.

Someone on Babble once said that we could know them or we could know their names. :) I tend to think there's a lot of truth to that.

That being said my therapist is not particularly internet savvy and I discovered today that he had never googled himself!!

I told him he could of course rely on me to tell him what's out there. But that I thought every therapist should google themselves on a fairly regular basis so they know what their clients are seeing.
