That sounds similar to what we (my daughter and I) experienced with SSRIs. I'm not sure such a reaction is considered diagnostic for bipolar, but certainly mood instability seems to occur in a subset of mood-disordered patients (including us). We have both done well with wellbutrin as an A/D and also for me, lamictal as a mood stabilizer. Been on these now for some time with no problem. Plus, no weight gain or sexual side effects, both of which can be a problem with SSRIs. Hope this helps.
