Do you have any friends who could use a helping hand? Often I find myself venturing further from home to help others than I would just to help myself.
You could go to the store and get some stuff to make him/her a gift basket.
You could offer to do grocery shopping for someone
Or throw a little party. a wine and cheese soiree, or something like that?
