Research about healing by emulating T?

In another thread above, Daisy mentioned that recent research shows that some clients in therapy who get better do it by emulating something about a T to whom they have attached. And, that type of thing doesn't transfer to another T very well. Does anyone have any references to that research? I'd love to follow up with some reading on that. It seems to intuitive to me, and it matches my own experience.
