Hi Michael,

Welcome to babble. ; ) You're right some are wonderful, others aren't. Sometimes you won't hit paydirt on the first or 2nd one, but there's got to be someone out there take you on as a client, and you'll both learn to care. My last T cut my appts. short (they were usually 30 - 40 min!), took phone calls during my appts., said mean things - but I still like him - it just wasn't a good fit. My current T is wonderful. Very kind, accepting, shares with me, is okay when I do something stupid.....and I like him.

I think you're smart to be prepared. Does your insurance co. have physician referal page? That's another place to check.

About the caring thing...my T told me he tries to be fully present with each client at each appt. He feels he owes us that, but it's a tough job, I guess being fully present every time would be hard. If you find someone you like who wants to be fully present, I'd say that's a good sign.

Good luck finding a Therapist!
