Mormons believe that when a person dies they go to the "spirit world". They remain there until the millinium and during that time they will be assigned one of the 3 degree's of glory. One being the Celestal Kingdom, the highest glory where only worthy people may go. The second one is the Terlestial kingdom which is for good people but ones that did't live up to their covenants they made with God and Jesus. The lowest one being the Telestial kingdom or if you'd like to call it "hell" is for adulter's, murderer's etc.
Why dead people are babtized is for them to have the opportunity to go to the Celestial Kingdom for without that done, they can not go there. Mormons believe in eternal families. Being with your family forever. And this is why geneolgy is so important to Mormons. To track their families as far back as they can.
This is truely off the subject of googling someone.....but oh well, some of you might be interested. I'm not trying to get into a religious debate as I think we can all believe as we may.
Yes, I've googled people I know including my T. I figure if it's on the web, it's for public knowlege.
