I have to admit my confidence (I teach too) really fell off a lot when I began trying to accept and work with my younger ego states. But I really needed to do it, and things are getting better now. I need to work hard at comforting and supporting the younger states, who feel the abuse was their fault, and have quite a lot of self-hatred. I have to admit honestly that I don't like this situation at all, but the ego states are really there, and I do have to accept that this is my job. My analyst is wonderful, but he can't do it all. He's made it clear that this is a job for both of us!
