But I kept trying to talk and it gradually got easier. My T was a wonderful listener. There were things I just couldn't say out loud at first and I started by writing them down (and even that was difficult). There are still things I can't say out loud, but maybe one day I might.

Part of it for me was about learning to live with the pain. I had to accept that the pain was still there, but that it belonged to the past, if that makes sense.

Tamar

You and I are opposites in that I can say the words out loud, well more like a whisper, but I can't wirte them down. It make them too concrete and real for me.

You maybe did get some desensitization through talking with your therapist, but this is a specific therapy program that therapists use for patients with PTSD. Talking through specific traumatic memories in detail numerous times until you no longer feel as much pain when those memories are triggered again.

If you were doing this you would have been told that this was part of your treatment program.

I wish you well with your other painful memories. I hope you can come to terms with them soon.
