Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. In general, I think using a substance (other than your meds) to help you open up in therapy is not a good idea. I can see the attraction, definitely, especially if you are frustrated.

And your lunch sounds fine. I don't think I would have a problem with that. I did see someone once for a "crisis" intevention who turned out to be drunk. Um, I don't think he was going to remember much of what was said. The police were a much better tool for making sure he was safe. Not that you were planning to go drunk! I'm not comparing you to this guy.

At any rate, you might try some relaxation techniques before your session. Can you sit in your car (brrrr! keep the heat on...) or sit in the waiting room and practice meditation, deep breathing, or progressive muscle relaxation?
