You are so right! Everyone knows what "memories" are, but after talking to a few people, it really seems like my concept of memories is totally different to person B's concept of memories which is totally different again to person C's, etc. So even though we are all talking about the same thing, we aren't really. It seems like people experience/store/remember/whatever memories so differently from each other.

I love reading about what we do and don't know about the brain. It's such an amazing organ. The unconscious mind is just astounding in how it can instantly pop something up to your consciousness (wish my filing was that efficient :) ) or it can say "No, I don't think you're ready to think about that yet. Let's look at this instead."

That description is just soooo apt. I went to Vanuatu a while ago and literally stood on the rim of one of their volcanos. I've seen footage and photos and whatnot of volcanic eruptions, but actually standing RIGHT THERE and feeling the rumbling right through your core and hearing/seeing/feeling the tremendous BOOOOM of the eruption... unforgetable. Remembering and dealing with the garbage from the past really does reach right inside of you and shakes your core just as much. Think I'd prefer the volcano :)
