hmmm...I don't know how things go in your state, but in mine it is perfectly legal for qualified non-M.D.s to diagnose & they do it all the time for insurance purposes. True, psychiatrists (not all M.D.s) have the edge when it comes to psychopharmacology & neuropsychology. When it comes to treating a sick brain, an M.D. is a must. but let's be honest, you don't need a medical degree to assess symptoms and pick a number out of the DSM. Experience doing assessments is probably more important than the degree one holds.
