There's no necessary answer to your question, because Antidepressants like Emsam work differently and in different doses for different people.Emsam might help, but it's not necessarily going to do it, especially if you're very depressed. Have you and your pdoc considered using a higher dose, such as 9 mg?
Are you sleeping or experiencing any anxiety or irritability. Sometimes there can be side effects that are manifested at the beginning of using an AD, that fade or become less difficult after a while.
Have you ever used any other anti-depressants?
I also wondered how well you got along with your parents. Or whether there are any other stresses that might be keeping you from feeling better at the moment?
There's not as much talk about Emsam on the main Psychobabble board (the medications board) as there has been-- but you could check there, too. One person who's very knowledgeable about ADs in general has just started Emsam.
