Welcome emlee. I was born and raised in MI, and then lived there again for a few years as an adult. I love that state.
It sounds like your new diagnosis has been difficult to deal with. I think it would be that way for anyone. I'm so sorry about the losses you've suffered related to bipolar. It can have such a devastating effect on life. I hope that in time you are able to re-establish past relationships that were important to you. Sometimes it takes family awhile to understand what's going on. Support groups can be good for that, too. And NAMI, a national org. for the mentally ill and loved ones.
Getting the right combination of meds is sure frustrating, too. I hope you find a good regimen very soon.
Meanwhile, I'm glad you are here. There are others here with similar situations, and lots of supportive folks.
