Neurotransmitters in need: new meds?

Posted by elanor roosevelt on February 2, 2008, at 22:33:11

I think this is the place to post for those of us who have long-term issues with meds not working.

Yesterday I spoke on the phone with a pdoc recommended by a friend. She was very pleasant and did a good job of getting the basic overview in a timely manner.

She made some suggestions and then told me that she didn't think she had much more to offer and suggested i stay with my existing pdoc.

i am presently taking adderall, trivastal, tryptophan, b complex, b12, folic acid, calcium & magnesium.
i take xanax rarely and ambien nightly.
i'm having chronic problems with a swollen tongue and ulcerations in my mouth. less since i stopped ssri's but still there are problems
i am functioning, pleasant enough if i remember to take the adderall. impatient often.
iam at the edge of despair and i am beginning to distrust people that i have always believed in

the trivastal at first let in some sensation and a glimpse of pleasure and sense of future but that is waning.

I have ordered ixel. We will see when that comes.

the doctor suggested 2 medications: abilify and/or cymbalta

i have been very successful at retrieving an upbeat me with:
Lexapro and Celexa

I have been helped somewhat by:
wellbutrin
effexor
buspar

I have not done well on:
prozac
paxil
zoloft
remeron
cymbalta (very short trial)
tianeptine

lousy and nasty things have happened to me on:
luvox
serzone
parnate
vivactal
nortiptylin
topomax
neurontin
depokate

now that i write this list i realize how much time i have wasted
and my mouth hurts
