Tetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is used for a lot of things including acne. It doesn't actually kill bacteria, but interferes with their growth, weakens them, allowing your own immune system to get them. Tetra, Doxy, and Mino are common in Lyme, usually Doxy.

The absence of a Herx reaction is interesting. It could mean one of these:
1. It was a strain of Lyme not susceptible to that drug.
2. It was not borrellia, but instead babesia or bartonella, which are not affected by Doxy/Tetra.
3. The organisms moved quickly into cyst form to avoid danger. In the cyst form, most antibiotics cannot reach them.

Challenge tests with cyst-busting drugs or herbs would be helpful to get a better picture. Clindamycin, Flagyl, and a couple others.

In the herbal department, Teasel root somehow chases the germs out of hiding so as to be attacked by the immune system. Cheap enough to try.

Strong cyst busting herbs include:
Coptis Root
Oregon Grape Root
(anything with high concentration of Berberine)
Pau D'Arco tea

Personally I also found Oil of Oregano extremely potent. All of the above are also very potent against yeast/fungi/candida, in addition to wide spectrum antibiotic, so you can cover a lot of bases all at once.

Of them all...meds, herbs, supps...the most potent antimicrobials I encountered were:
1. Pau D'Arco tea
2. Coptis Root
3. Oil of Oregano

The least potent were actually the meds...Doxy, Tetra, Nystatin, etc. Though I do like Diflucan.
