Excersise is absolutely amazing. Not only does it regulate your blood sugar, weight, and immune system; it significantly increases neurogenesis in the hippocampus and minorly in other areas of the brain.Signifianct enough that if done everyday for long periods it could be as benefitial or better then antidepressants. The problem is at first after you excercise you begin to produce large amounts of cortisol which can increase your depression and/or anxiety. Keep it up and these side effects will precipitate, and your overall cortisol will be lowered.
