Progesterone cream could be a problem?

Posted by Spriggy on February 24, 2005, at 17:45:30

I posted this in the alternative section too, so not sure which place is correct Dr. Bob.

My husband had a thought that had not even occurred to me until today.

I had a friend swear by natural progesterone cream. I started using it about 14 months ago- coincidentally, right around the time my anxiety/panic attacks started. NEVER occurred to me there was a connection.

I continued with the cream- took it until December when I realized I was having acne all the time (which is unusual for me- I'm in my late 20's).

I also started this whole crazy anxious episode that led me to Lexapro that led me to pure nightmare hell.

So I quit the Progesterone cream... during this same period of time.

Is it at all possible that I screwed up my hormones with that cream? I have recently read that progesterone is related to cortisol levels.

I have often been feeling a SURGE of cortisol/adrenaline for no reason, especially in the middle of the night.

What would I need to do to get my hormones back in balance??
