Carebear,
First, you are not worthless. You are in the process of recovering. You are not going to hear what I have to say, and you can certainly tell me to p*ss off if you want to, but it sounds your body is trying to tell you something. You have been through so much, and your body needs time to heal and get used to being active again. Again I will say that I am no expert, but I do know that our bodies need time to get used to being active again (especially extremely active) when we have been through a recovery of any kind. Yes, you are used to walking 5 - 10 miles without breaking a sweat, and you will, no doubt, be able to that again one day. But, in the meantime, 2 miles is good too (for now), until your body re-develops it's endurance. I know it is hard, but try not to be impatient - with yourself and your body. Our body has an uncanny knack of letting us know when it is being over-taxed. So, please go slow and steady for the timebeing. It will pay off in the long run. OK, lecture over.

> hi all-- recently, the past week or so, i was in the hospital for a medical stay. in that past week, i lay on my butt in a hospital bed and rotted. occasionally, i walked around the floor, but it was depressing and antisocial. i walked outside once with my mom and in the lobby once another time, but that was it. usually, walking is like second nature to me. i can walk 5, 10 miles without breaking a sweat. today, i walked with my mom after getting discharged and i could barely make 2 miles. i had to stop and rest, too. i felt so worthless. i don't know if it's deconditioning from the hospital or corresponding to weakness of my lungs that they pointed out in the hospital. any suggestions for how to get back in shape quickly? thanks much!
