Dave Dellinger has died

Posted by Jai Narayan on June 8, 2004, at 19:42:18

Dave Dellinger was a friend to me. I protested by his side. He was kind, sweet and available.

300 people gathered in Montpelier, Vt. to honor his life.
He served two terms in prision in WW2 as a draft resister. He joined civil rights marchers in the South, led people's peace delegations to North Vietnam and in later years opposed international trade agreements. His most famous notoriety came as one of the "Chicago Seven" anti war activists charged with inciting riots outside the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago.

The conviction was overturned and it was determined that the police were the cause of the riot.

I honor Dave Dellinger who worked for peace. He had a piercing intellect, a merry wit and a was a loving human being.

I will miss him.
