My heart really goes out to you. I think that you are in one of the most challenging positions that I can imagine anyone must face.

Perhaps you can try an SSRI anti-depressant, or have you already done that?

My sons are older than your son is, so it's nto really a fair comparison, but when I am separated for a long time I am able to help myself a bit by doing something: knitting them an afghan, for example. Learning to knit, sew, crochet, do needlepoint, embroidery, really helped me get through a lengthy grieving process when I was younger. I also had pets: for me, cats (look at my screen name). Nothing can be a substitute, but trying to be strong is important.

I, too, have been in situations where I wanted to drift off to a permanent sleep. It passes; it goes away.

I, too, would be very heart-broken and I hope that you will continue to post and that you'll get some benefits from the links which starrlight posted for you.

Take good care.
