Hi Michael,

I agree with Jo also.

I didn't know that blasphemy was viewed as so bad in the Bible.

I might be being REALLY irreverant here & I am certainly not meaning to. I HOPE I DON'T OFFEND ANYONE...I do not mean to be disrespectful.

But you know what? I can't understand how, if various sinners (& who of us isn't?) were standing in front of God (if for a minute you imagine God as 'Someone' who you can stand in front of, as opposed to a benevolent force all around us or something like that).

Just pretend these are the people who are standing in front of God:

1) Someone who had murdered a helpless frail person they saw on the street; say they beat them to death with no provocation at all.
2) Someone in the financial business, who has cheated 20 elderly people out of their life-savings that was meant to be their income for their old age.
3) Someone who hated animals & kicked dogs & cats & set inhumane traps & put out poison for animals that came onto their property.
4) Someone who committed arson, burning down a school & killing & injuring many.
5) Someone who had said critical things about the Bible.
6) Someone who went around with a baseball bat & broke windshields on cars & trucks.
7) Someone who was involved in being very violent with their spouse & children on an almost daily basis.

OK - so God is 'measuring up' the sins of these people.

I find it REALLY hard to even BEGIN to believe that God would put the blasphemy part anywhere near the top of the list!!!

Keep in mind, that it was human beings who wrote the Bible and there are also translations involved. I don't think it's inconcievable that certain things might have come through a bit differently in translation?

Anyway Michael, I'm sorry you're feeling so badly about this, & hope you can feel better about it soon.

luv, Kath
