We're trying to sell our house. We put this in God's hands a long time ago... back in August when my husband applied for a job within his company that would require travel (believe it or not, with his commute here - total of 3 hours per day - I'd see him more if he traveled and worked from home 50% of the time...!)
Anywho, it was a long shot, and we prayed that we wanted it ONLY if it were His best plan for us. Long story short, he got it. Woo-hoo!
We made plans to move us to Oregon - where I'm from (been in east coast exile for 21 years -- far longer than my 32-week PBF exile! tee-hee!)
Many more long stories short, we were led to a small town, which had a gorgeous Victorian home (two of my dreams come true!), right on Main street - can't wait! AND, He allowed us to buy the little carriage house (cottage) next door ... guest house/son's bedroom/future studio and shop for my artwork...
We figured we'd sell our own home near Washington, DC quickly - it's a HOT market.
Four weeks later -- despite everyone raving about our home - no contracts or offers.
Well, there is one woman and her family who fell in love with our home 4 weeks ago... but couldn't afford it (her husband's new job has been promised, but the paperwork from the government - which he needs - is mysteriously lost in somebody's in-box...!), and have to sell their house first.
She's claimed this house to be hers, by faith... maybe God is preventing anyone else from buying it?
I mean, smaller houses, with less land, for more money are selling with multiple contracts! One down the street sold in 1.5 HOURS of being listed... really weird...
The "lady in love" is having her first open house this weekend... maybe God will pull a "coin out of a fish to pay the taxes" number on us! Stranger things have happened to us...
It seems to be all about trusting Him. Which, in theory, I'm great at. I could preach sermons on it. But in practice, it stirs up my fears that if I really love something, it'll be taken away... (must get those fears healed! make note to self!)
The folks in Oregon are truly wonderful - friends already - and consider their house sold to us -- this business of selling ours is a mere technicality to them... wonderful people!
I keep praying, "Your will, not mine, be done..." (I know, so original!) I keep thanking Him that His timing is impeccable, and mine stinks...
I keep saying, "I trust. Help my untrust!"
So... from all this ragamuffin mixture of thoughts, if you can pull a prayer together - I'd appreciate it mightily!
(how come we don't have "smiley's" on this forum? I need more expressiveness here!)
