Dear babblers of faith we pull up the clouds

Posted by Jai Narayan on September 19, 2004, at 22:01:19

We pull the soft white couds up to our chins
our alabaster faces rivited on the pale moon
the cold blue stars winking over our heads
is god out there tonight
we wonder in our lofty minds
We ponder
we muse
we ask
are you out there tonight
we demand
please be out there tonight
My god of delight
my god of wrath
my god of the dead
we turn in our graves
the cold my god the cold
we implore you
give us grace
give us light
we need your light
we turn our tulip heads to the sun
as it rises
we are warmed by your presence
the sun we love the sun
it is our god
the sun is our god
we bake in the sun
we beg for the rain
my god please rain
we are too hot now
the skys give us the grace of rain
in a soft veil
it falls gently on our lips
we are saved
god we love the rain
the sun is falling away
we are easing into the night
with her pale blue skys
the stars are breaking through
tiny white pin pricks
I am at ease with you god
all my needs have been met
I am at ease
