One of the problems of planting trees is that 20 years later you can get really depressed about how badly you did it.
Yesterday I was chopping down one of these
because it was one of far too many trees in the available space. I did my cuts more or less right, but misjudged the way it was going to fall and the trunk moved and jammed my saw. I just abandonded it, but this morning I found the tree had fallen down, and the saw was out and OK.
The top of the tree I was cutting had been taken off, but it was as thick as a man and around chimney height. I hate chainsaws and the wood is so heavy.
Which reminds me. When they used to say about Reagan that he cut wood for recreation, do you think they meant with an axe or a chainsaw?
