Verbal abuse is horrible. I was beaten until I was black and blue from the bottom of my legs all the way up to my back. However, the words are what hurt the most. I am 35 and I am still fighting off the effects of the verbal abuse.

Just reassure your son that he is a good son. Tell him that it is his dad with the problem. Hurting people hurt people. Maybe you can try to get your son to realize that his dad must be a miserable person. A happy, normal person would not talk to a person that way, much less his own son.
How were you planning on handling the situation?
