Yes, I do think the magnesium glycinate can do that because of the glycine molecule. Glycine affects NMDA receptors. I had this experience as well, so I only took a little at bedtime for sleep, but not during the daytime hours. Eventually, I switched to magnesium citrate, which doesn't make me feel foggy.
