it is supposed to be a precursor to carnitine. does it really work? i can't figure out dose equivalence with carnitine, how much ends up acetylcarnitine in the blood, etc. for all i know it could even be better, carnitine doesn't seem to be well absorbed.
like most aor stuff, it is not cheap. AOR stuff is supposed to be legit, despite cheap packaging that looks easy to counterfeit. i don't know.
i know ACETYL-l-carnitine helps me when taken with stimulants. i follow a strict vegan diet, and am below the normal range for serum carntine level according to gamma-dynacare. carnitine and acetyl-l-carnitine is illegal in canada, apart from an prohitibitively expensive prescription only monopoly by sigma tau pharmaceuticals that only offers carnitine anyway. there is no sign of this changing. it has been years.
there is also Tetradecylthioacetic acid which seems like it would synergise with GBB and speed up carnitine production, and help perhaps totally avoid the issue of interfering with carnitine transport. i have no idea where i would find a recognisable and trustworthy source for this.
