Some people with bipolar disorder do well on high doses of fish oil, but in my experience, about 1 to 2 grams per day is sufficient for most people. Some people do better with a little more, like 3 or 4 grams per day, but I wouldn't recommend that much until you know how you react to fish oil. Does it improve your depression and anxiety or does it make you feel worse? In my experience, I can only tolerate a low dose of fish oil, about 1.5 grams per day. If I take more, my depression gets worse, so dosage is important when dealing with fish oil. You could try more, but if it makes your depression and energy worse, then back off a little. High doses of fish oil seem to be especially effective if you are manic all the time, but if you don't have manic depression, I would first try a low dosage of fish oil and see how it affects you. Around 2 grams per day (2,000mg) is probably a good dosage for most people, unless you are manic. Then more might be helpful. Good luck!
