These two vitamins are definitely recommended for schizophrenia due to their antioxidant and anti-depression effects. I tried stopping the Vitamin C, but felt rather flat without it, so now I'm taking it again. I can't say exactly what the vitamin E does for depression. I just know I like it, and it is good for the circulation as well, if you know what I mean ;) I've heard that antioxidant vitamins are useful for schizophrenia, but as of now I'm only using C, E, and selenium. I had failed trials with CoQ10 and alpha lipoic acid. Perhaps there are other antioxidants good for schizophrenia, but I haven't seen anything in the literature about them, and I believe it is a pathetically researched area. I also did not do well on N-acetyl-cysteine which is all the buzz right now. Does it work for bipolar and schizophrenia? We need good research to prove that it does. Anything else is just anecdotal and coincidence. I'm trying to be more scientific about the treatment. Certain key vitamins help. Most supplements do not.
