B6 makes a difference for some depression

Posted by Lao Tzu on January 29, 2011, at 15:25:52

I've noticed that increasing my B6 dosage tends to make me less anxious and paranoid. I'm currently taking 200mg per day and have seen a difference within a week. I've also noticed that people are nicer to me, more friendly, probably because I'm in a better mood. I believe I may be pyroluric, meaning a double deficiency in B6 and zinc because some people excrete the B6 and zinc more readily than other people. A B6 deficiency can have a big impact on one's mood, so implementing it into a regiment is probably a big plus for anybody. The only thing you have to determine is correct dosage. For a long time I thought that 100mg per day was enough, but over the years I've seen that I can benefit from higher dosages. Some sources say that 250mg is a good maintenance dose for pyrolurics, but I don't think I need that much. Only time will tell. Anyway, just wanted to put this out there for anyone suffering from anxiety or paranoia. I think the B6 can help a lot.
