In the past, I have had some success with using Hemi-Sync brain wave synchronization from the Monroe Institute in Virginia. They have a website with a lot of information. They are dedicated to research into human consciousness. Now, since I am schizophrenic, I don't know if it will help me or not, but it might help others who don't present with psychotic or dissociative symptoms. I'm going to try it again since I've been stable over the last few years. I used the brain wave synchronization CDs before I was diagnosed psychotic and can say that with practice, they may have an impact in modifying behavior and with other states such as anxiety, compulsions, and depression, and also addictive behaviors and attention/focus problems. In no way do I suggest that this therapy will replace medication or good nutrition, but I think with practice it can be a very good, unconventional tool to helping with behavior and understanding the subconscious in relation to behavior. The CDs I have found most helpful are the Hemi-Sync Human Plus line. Again, if you do a search on the web for The Monroe Institute, you will find their website. The CDs are relatively cheap, in fact, they are on sale now. It may seem unconventional, but they have researched the human consciousness for decades and have discovered some amazing things about behavior using Hemi-Sync. I think it's worth a try if you're trying to modify your behavior and to reach states of calm and peace.
