Magnesium and calcium seem to work together in a yin/yang type of relationship. If I take too much calcium, while I have lots of energy I start to get a bit tense. Not enough calcium, and I may lack energy. Magnesium is the candle and calcium is the flame. I also find that I am getting a bit leaner (with exercise) by taking these two minerals. This is important because I naturally have high cholesterol (or a condition/deficiency that causes high cholesterol) and I take an atypical antipsychotic which is notorious for causing weight and blood sugar problems.
