I've added about 25mg of zinc per day to my supplement regimen, and have noticed that I went from smoking two packs of cigarettes per day down to 1 pack. I don't know if it has anything to do with zinc, but perhaps the zinc has a modest effect on depression for some people. 1 pack per day is certainly a lot of cigarettes, but it is interesting that zinc in addition to other vitamins may help weaken the compulsion to light up every half hour. I don't know for sure. Has anyone tried adding zinc supplements to their regimen? I think, however, it is due to the combination of supplements I take that has altered my smoking habit. Essential Fatty acids, B6, benfotiamine( B1), vitamins E and C, Niacin at bedtime, calcium sometimes, and of course, the addition of a small amount of zinc, 12.5mg in the morning and at bedtime. I haven't read anything about zinc helping with smoking. For all I know it is coincidence and perhaps my depression seems better so that the compulsion doesn't feel as strong. Any thoughts out there?
