There were several double-blind studies done in the late 1990s suggesting inositol to be effective for panic, anxiety, and OCD. The dosage level in most of the studies was 12 to 18 grams. You can read about the studies at this link:

I have pretty bad GAD. I tried the inositol thing for a month a few years back and didn't notice anything. But according to the literature, there are no ill effects of taking such a high dosage, so it's definitely worth a try. I'd use it if it worked for me.
