Any experience with brainwave 'entrainment'?

Posted by Jimmyboy on June 8, 2008, at 17:43:43

Does anyone have experience with techniques/programs/technology that supposedly change your brain wave patterns?

I recently bought some CD's called "Holosync" that claim to induce more alpha/theta ( relaxing ) type brainwaves. There are tons of people who swear by them. My experince was not so great, as a matter of fact , I went from feeling pretty good to real spaced out and depressed/anxious in a matter of a few days of listening to them.

So, I am convinced the technology works. Because it happened so fast and so severe. As a shot in the dark I used a device that induces the opposite type brain waves "beta" , and immediately felt really clear headed and sharp again. I have done this many times and it genuinely seems helpful.

I have read that people with depression/ CFS, etc. have a pattern of overabundance of brain waves in the theta/delta range. Does anyone know if this is ture. Has anyone experimented with this approach?
Any comments on this topic would be appreciated, I am trying to learn a little more about this.
