It could save their heart, though. And like I said, that is a daily flux, not a bolus dose.
Think about hard water, for example. There is a very strong correlation between groundwater magnesium content, and heart disease. In places where they rely on well water, or water that has flowed out of the ground (rivers, streams), and, where the bedrock is sedimentary, the high mineral content of that water is very good for long-term health.
In Ontario, where I live, they mapped heart disease and they mapped magnesium content in the water. They were nearly perfectly inversely correlated. As magnesium content in the water went up, heart disease went down. The longer a person lived in the hard water district, at some time in their life, the better their heart disease profile was, as well. It has a lasting effect, probably by being prophylactic. Your heart and arteries last longer, the more they've been exposed to adequate magnesium flux.
That's just one health parameter highly correlated to magnesium flux. Inversely correlated, with magnesium flux.
