Cholesterol and Red Yeast Rice (RYR)

Posted by vitaqueen on June 18, 2005, at 14:15:59

I've been using RYR for about 3 months now, and managed to lower my cholesterol from 498 to 318. This still isn't enough though, and I was wondering if anyone knows if you can also take Niacin or any other natural cholesterol-lowering supplements (i.e. policosanol, etc.) with the RYR. I am taking 2400 mg/day -- does anyone know if perhaps I could take more? My doctor isn't much help because he wants me on statins which I refuse to take (unless it becomes a last resort). Thanks.
