Alcohol, DHEA-S and Type 2 Diabetes
Drinking alcohol may affect your dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate levels ( DHEA-S, which are mainly produced from the adrenal glands) and lower the risk for heart disease, especially if you're a male with Type 2 diabetes. Higher serum DHEA-S levels were found in light to moderate drinkers who were also found to have lower plaque scores in their carotid arteries.
