> BrianDid you say you also just dropped melatonin? You can get a little dependent on that for sleep. Not bad dependent. In the sense that your body isn't making enough and might never make enough. Dependent like a diabetic on insulin injections.
I see no reason to exceed 2 g /day of tryptophan, and just see where that leaves you after a couple of weeks.
And stay on the melatonin if that's what gets you the sleep you need. You can't count on your pineal gland to do the conversion, just because you've upped the availability of a distant precursor.
You can always increase the tryptophan later on, if indicated.
